The new normal has become quite an adjustment for many of us. Having to work from home, or temporarily not work, and still making sure that the bills are paid, our kids are still learning and other responsibilities are met can be quite a juggling act. It's no wonder that so many of us have become increasingly more anxious, nervous, stressed or depressed. One way to improve your mental health and reduce anxiety and stress is by meditating regularly. Meditation is a practice that concentrates on interactions with the body, mind, brain and overall behavior. There are many different types of mediation and meditation exercises that you can try. Most forms of meditation have the following core elements: 1. Comfortable posture. You can sit, stand or lie down in whatever position is most comfortable for you. 2. A quiet location, preferably in a place where you have as few distractions as possible. 3. A key focal point. There should be a specific word or a few important phrases, sensation or object for you to focus your attention on. 4. An open state of mind. While meditating, you'll be able to free your mind from other events going on around you. To meditate, start in your quiet place. Close your eyes and focus on breathing. Concentrate on your focal point and let your mind do the rest. You don't need to have a specific goal or objective. You'll learn to expand your awareness the more that you practice. Meditation A means of reducing stress and improving wellbeing !
