Tips for improving your work / life balance 1. Learn to prioritize the importance and order of your ‘to do’ list. 2. Say ‘no’ to things that you can not do in the time frame given, or if you have to complete the task, then ask what you can remove from your ‘to-do’ list. 3. Delegate what you are able to. 4. Have a cut off time when you go home and switch off emails. 5. Ensure you build in time for things you enjoy during your week. 6. Ensure you make time for physical exercise, preferably something you enjoy. 7. Establish and stick to a sensible night -time routine where you have time to unwind and enough time to sleep so you are regularly getting enough sleep that you need to feel good. 8. Eat healthily and avoid reaching from sweet unhealthy treats during stressful times or an over reliance on alco- hol. 9. Regularly connect with others such as friends and family 10. Practice mindfulness to help you to be more present and able to focus on the task at hand. If you follow these tips, you will realise that work / life bal- ance is about feeling calm, confident and in control of your life. When you’re stressed, overwhelmed and/or anxious, you have no capacity to think creatively. But when you have a good work / life balance, you have the head-space to think creatively and be more productive because of your im- proved focus and mental and physical well-being.
